We just dropped in there today after getting some eye-watering quotes elsewhere for a replacement key remote for our Honda. Staff worked while we waited, were all very polite and welcoming, and also were clear in their advice. The new remote has better construction than the original one, and works great.

Talk about Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde: I've had two experiences with JDM Parts now: the first one was a smooth, painless purchase of second hand, OEM alloy wheels. Because of that easy, pleasant transaction, it seemed safe to buy from them again. How wrong I was! The most recent, second hand wheels had the right specs (PCD etc) for my car. JDM also supplied some new, matching tyres and asked me the model of my car. However, when my local tyre place (I'm in a different city to JDM) tried fitting the first wheel, they noticed the inner spokes on the front wheel rubbed against the disc calliper. The technician immediately advised not proceeding any further and contacting JDM. The response I got from Takao at JDM: "Grind down the spokes"(!) or perhaps fit wheel spacers, which are dodgy when it comes to getting a WOF. When I objected to his bush-mechanic advice (from a crowd who present themselves as pros), I was told to "calm down." He would take the alloys back, but not the brand new, never-been-fitted-to-a-car, let alone touched a road surface tyres, as they had been fitted to the wheels by JDM and where therefore "used." I was also expected to pay for shipping the wheels back to Christchurch. Takao belatedly refunded me for the wheels when pressured by TradeMe, after I had lodged a dispute resolution claim. He tried to say they were "damaged" - the one mentioned before had scratches from the brake calliper, which he was informed about. After initially refusing to take the tyres back, he then offered a vastly reduced amount for them, and would charge me to take them off the rims and ship them back! Takao retorts that buyers need to read their terms and conditions on TradeMe about refunds , but these are in contravention of the Consumer Guarantees Act. He is either ignorant of the Act, or wilfully trying to ignore it. Potential buyers beware.
