Better be lucky, and know what time to come we came 2 hours before sunset and stayed until then and saw nothing. But the info displayed in the little kinda hut is helpful and very informative. Plus the view is nice

This place was the best with 2 volunteers for DOC,telling us what to look out for and how many penguins come in and when approximately. They said the penguins had been coming in between 6 and 7, but we were there later and 1 came in after 8, with 3 more to come in for the night. It was worth seeing the one! Too cold to wait for more to come in, even though they were expected in by 8.30...fine night but freezing even in January! The penguins come in after they have eaten enough for the day,...

This was really good but the windows where a bit old so hard to see through. Also would be nice if the side that was more on to the side of the beach had windows too!

Saw sea lions and waited for penguins but they didnt appear, maybe bad timing or we we just looking at the wrong places and completely missed them :( but beautiful walk to the viewing house, so would recommend coming here anyways.

We were lucky enough to see a yellow eyed penguin and a sea lion just upon arrival at the hide. End of July around 4:30pm. A small carpark/off shoulder parking before going further to nugget point main parking. Good luck guys. BTW, a binoculars is not really needed since the hide is already so close to the bay.

Turned up at 8pm and spotted a penguin preening itself on the beach for 30 minutes before it disappeared up into the bush. There was a lovely Doc volunteer there who was very informative and helpful.

Nice view, the hide provides cover from the elements and easy lookout for seals, we didnt see the penguins . Bring binoculars.

Beautiful bay but no yellow eyed penguins sighted on 3 October 2020 between 2.30pm and 6pm nor on 4 October between 6pm and 8.15pm. If you see a penguin please post on here with the date and time. :)
