Xerra Earth Observation Institute is located in Alexandra, New Zealand on 17A Brandon Street. Xerra Earth Observation Institute is rated 3 out of 5 in the category research in New Zealand. Xerra Earth Observation Institute is a regional research institute. We are an independent organisation designed to be complementary to key players in New Zealand's science system, and also stand on our own. Our headquarters are in the beautiful town of Alexandra in Central Otago. Under our original name (Centre for Space Science Technology) we were a successful applicant in the Regional Research Institutes Initiative, administered by the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). We received establishment funding from MBIE, enabling us to stand on our own and actively contribute to the wider science community. We work with science partners and customers to engage in research, which not only contributes to the worldwide body of knowledge, but also delivers a return on investment for the users of our Earth observation (EO) products and services.
