Loved the visit on one of their market days. Lovely shaded lawn to listen to the music and eat great food truck food. Went for a tour of the Alberton afterwards which is very interesting.
Alberton as a place is not bad, but the Alberton market is fantastic. The like music was really good, and there is a nice variety of food stalls. Only one option for coffee though, so that wait was longer than would be ideal, but not enough to lose a star.
The Alberton House was built in 1863, very well-known in the late 19th century. People of the upper class held dance parties, garden parties and small concerts here. Many appliances and equipment used at that time are displayed in the house, and a few rooms still have the wallpaper used for interior decoration at that time.
I've been to visit Alberton several times but I only just realized that they sold their own eggs. I'll be back more regularly now!
Fantastic story. A must for every Aucklander. The kitchen is my favourite room.
The staff that work here on a voluntary basis are amazing well worth the visit beside the chickens they have bee hives. they sell the eggs & honey onsite to help with up keep of the facility
