Terrible experience with apex rentals. 1. We went a week in advance to add an extra driver to the reservation. Went to the airport branch. Clerk put the driver licence through their machine and said it was all done. On pickup, the extra driver was not in in their system. Instead of acknowledging their mistake, they forced us to return again to add the driver, adding an extra hour of travel time for us, and wasting the original hour spent. (We know which guy did the driver licence at the airport) 2. There were ants coming out of the center cup holder/gearbox area, which was surprising to say the least. On calling Apex rentals, they recommended we get a (quote) “1 dollar vacuum” at the gas station to remedy the problem. 3. Apex rentals suggested we exchange vehicles, which was a great idea, except they wanted us to drive from Rotorua to Napier airport. We suggested they send a staff with a clean car our way and Apex said it was too far. 4. Apex promised a written email that they would reimburse us for the cleaning costs (zero consideration for our time). However after a few follow up calls they then reneged and said they only sent an email to the manager (who works at the airport branch) and that she would know, and to ask for her when returning the vehicle. 5. On return of the vehicle, I called the manager at the airport branch. They were in a meeting. I left my number and was told I’d get a call back. I’m still waiting for a call back. (Arpee?) I haven’t heard from you yet. Highly recommend staying away from this rental place. Unfortunately google reviews don’t have a zero star option. Wish Google allowed videos because then you’d all see the ants crawling around the cup holders, gearbox, front and rear seats. I have the videos if anyone at Apex wants to see where the ants are so that they can clean the car properly.

DO NOT USE APEX RENTALS IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY (apexrentals.co.nz). I should have read the customer reviews before hiring a vehicle through this company. The SUV provided was not road worthy and I was asked to return the car mid-way through my travels around the North Island. Another side note, there is a lack of professionalism regarding how the company treats their customers. The branch managers and operations manager need to be schooled on how to communicate clearly. I would strongly suggest that the branch/operations managers take a customer service course or simply find a job that suits your competency level(s).

Bad experience picking up the car during covid as they apparently only have 1 staff member on these days. Be ready to wait a loooong time. Also last time I picked up the car it was dirty and the charger wasn’t functional.

The customer services are excellent but I give three star just for car because the car was very dirty outside and specially inside was really dirty So it would be good if they wash the car and clean inside the car which would be fantastic Thanks

Had a Ford Focus for 2 weeks - great little car. Picked up and delivered to Auckland CBD. Had to wait a little while when collecting the car as they only had 2 staff on and their were a lot of people returning or collecting cars. Anyway wasn't too bad.
