Interesting Masonic Lodge of Irish Constitution, constructed in 1842. Claims to be "The first Masonic Lodge constituted in New Zealand". The Building's facade has a projecting portal with a band of six-pointed stars, each composed of two superimposed triangles. Above the door is written "ARA LODGE 348. I. C." The portal gives indirect access to an anteroom, decorated on the outside by a band of alternating lotus and pomegranate motifs. The window above the anteroom roof has "ARA348" written in the grill. The blue paint work is common among the masonic lodges of New Zealand.
