I have heard a lot positive about this school. It is arguably one of the best school in Auckland as they encourage studies and sports equally. Tough to get into school unless you live in the neighborhood or your parents or relative studied in the school.

Went there for one year as a year 11 as im playing my first year of 1st XV and before a pre season game one of the head coaches and medics had some steroids with them, I then quit the team and went to wesley and they offered me steroids and now I play for the all blacks

Good place to learn how to wear a school uniform. 'Streaming' class groups from A-Z in order of competence is only mildly effective as it has potential to degrade the lower ranking students making them feel inferior to the higher-achievers and consequently not desire to strive for more successful grades. AGS really teaches you first-hand what an elitist institution looks like. Many teachers spend more time on their egocentric and authoritative figures, or are bad at their job and simply dictate words from a textbook and tell you to write down everything word for word hoping that you might learn this way. I was always interested in arts and crafts - two sectors in which this school had poor resources or lack of interest in compared to some of the other schools out there. But this is all quite subjective and maybe school just wasn't for me.
