Understaffed. I had to wait more than 10 minutes to be seen.

I had the worst experience here. I went in to open a bank account and was turned away twice. Once was for a bank appointment in which I was told I had to make an appointment next week, despite people in front of me opening a bank account on the spot. Okay, whatever. So I made one and went into my scheduled bank appointment the next week only to be told that I had to come back next week again because they wouldn’t accept my proof of address from my Air Bnb host because it was by both wife and husband instead of just one person. My host said that had never been a problem before with past tenants opening a bank account. I ended up going to Westpac to open an account and had one opened swiftly with no problem. Do not use Kiwibank unless you’re a Kiwi. Too much hassle and they do not want to help you.

I had one of the worst banking experiences at Kiwibank Customs St branch this afternoon around 1.30pm. I went in to do a money transfer and was served by a customer service rep named Jess. I had misunderstood that the 25 fee was to make the transaction faster based on what I was led to believe in my previous transaction. When I tried to clarify this with Jess, she said "I don't think you understand what I'm saying" - she said all this in a fast and loud voice with no attempt to slow down. I had a history of a panic attack and knew that I was on the verge of one, so I politely asked if I could be served by someone else but my request was declined with a reply "sorry - everyone else is busy here". Don't want to say that Jess was rude to me necessarily and this could be subjective but that was exactly how I felt as a customer (I felt like I was spoken down at with an attitude to be completely honest). However I would have thought that if I voiced this, then at least as a customer service rep, one would change tact and speak more softly or ask questions to clarify the misunderstanding. Instead when I asked her "Are you ok? You seem a bit on edge". The reply I got was "No I'm calm. I'm fine. I just speak in a loud voice" Perhaps Kiwibank should invest more on targeted training customer service or EQ awareness? I have had great experience banking with Kiwibank before now, especially from another branch off Queen St (the one with the Post office), but this one left me dumb-founded

ATM machine is not working with an overseas Mastercard. They are mentioned on the website from Mastercard Germany, but shouldn't be mentioned there. Be a Kiwi to use their service or leave.

Extremely confusing place. I'm not sure if it's specific to this branch, or if it's a general issue, however the disparity between info given and service provided between this branch and the head office is astounding. Whatever you hear on a call with head office will be negated here. If you set up an appointment with head office in this branch, you will be send back. I had really high hopes about this place, but after 3 visits(!) left utterly disappointed. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME COMING HERE.
