The food, presentation and nice employees are incredible but here the hygiene is disgusting there’s ants in the exit sign the toilets are filled with grime and there’s one without a lock. It’s like they haven’t cleaned the place in a year, there was even a cockroach on my table and a bug on my plate. Don’t be mistaken daikoku is great but don’t go to this one it’s vile

Set lunch menu from 25 is a good start, sold and miso soup comes as standard. You have the choice of chicken, beef and seafood for your mains. Quick and fast service and generally tasty. Ice cream as a finishing touch was great. Beer wine and non alcoholic options also available.

Yum yum. Always a great time. Excellent place for dinner. Friendly atmosphere and staff. Entertaining when they cook the food and I liked the train. All good definitely worth it

I highly recommend this place. We've been here twice now and had a great experience both times. We went tonight and were 20 mins late but the staff were very accommodating. We were all relaxed and enjoyed the show. My kids absolutely loved the choo choo train

Today 23 May 2020: We arrived early for Lunch, the tall skinny staff at the reception was VERY Rude. He said we can't wait inside at the waiting area by the entrance door because they need to do more cleaning.(this was at 1150am)...So we went back to wait in the car as it is a cold day. Then two mins later two other groups arrive(still before opening time) then he allowed them to wait in the very same area which I asked for 2 mins ago.Not only was THIS MANAGER IN CHARGE is a lier as there was no cleaning to be done. I could not help to think this staff has a different bias and service towards European customers. I have been a regular at all Daikoku branches in Auckland and Hamilton, but never again will return to this Albany branch. I hope the owner gets to read my feedback as a loyal customer and have a stern word with this unfriendly tall male staff at the reception today. You an also see that my feedback from previous visit has been 5 stars but understandably today experience is unbelievable especially and even by Japaneses standard. SHINJI RARELAI NE. ONE STAR rating. FEB2020 Good handy location which is close to motorway and not far from Albany Mall. Limited parking during peak dining hours. Very friendly staff and nice interiors decorations. Cosy place to dine out with families and friendly. Good value lunch time specials. You can tell the freshness of the meat as they are presented in front you as part of the cooking process. Chef we had was very friendly on Saturday. Will return again and recommend others for a visit. Food safety rating is A. So you can't go wrong.

Even 1 star is not worth this place. Not a pleasant experience at all! very unfortunate and so sad. We especially chose to go to Daikoku Tepanyaki as it was my 4 year old son’s birthday. We wanted to make it special experience for him. We booked ahead so we arrived at our booked on time assuming our meals will be started then. We got seated on a empty table and our orders were taken abruptly. Then we waited and waited. Apparently being seated on a empty table meant we had to wait until it was filled. Finally two others came and they sat down. After about a minute the waitress came to take their orders! Very rushed, it felt like they were in a hurry. Our chef came to the table and started to cook our meals. We were expecting some good performances that would make our son amused. But, maybe this chef was a trainee or something. The performance that we received was different to what the other table got. We were disappointed. My son was disappointed.. The other couple at our table was disappointed too. We were eating our mains and it was yet to finish. The waitress came back again clearing the dishes and started to take our orders for desserts! She asked us to pass her our own empty plates to her which was unbelievable! Through all the experience it felt like we were rushed. The performance we got was so lame. The service we got from that waitress was horrible. We chose specifically to come here but obviously that was a total mistake. I felt sorry to let my son down on his birthday. I will never come back to this place.

Love coming here. Japanese beer on tap, great atmosphere, and the chefs are of a good standard for both cooking and the performance aspect too. Food is great!
