My uncle had lived here for the past 7 years. The care and attention he has received throughout this time has been wonderful. The entire staff are friendly and welcoming. The kitchen and bedrooms are clean and the food served is nicely prepared. They have regular entertainment and trips out and I feel that the entire staff go above and beyond in their duty of care. I couldn’t ask for a better place for my uncle to be cared for in.

You have to take your hat off to those caring for the aged, it's a highly demanding profession. I have friends who are residents in two of Auckland's retirement homes, Selywn Heights and Edenvale, and visit them whenever I can. I'm always impressed by the patience and compassion shown by staff and by health care professionals, the degree of poise required in dealing day-long with residents afflicted with dementia and cognitive decline and other conditions now common among the elderly. My Edenvale friend passed away recently, but often expressed gratitude to her 'family' of nurses for their warmth and kindness, and the kinship of others there who brought dignity and grace to her end of life years. That gratitude might also be a more appropriate and thoughtful sentiment for those who find fault with our rest homes and their staff - easy to leave a 'loved one' you were no longer able to provide for in a care facility, visiting when convenient, but it would be gracious to recognise and acknowledge the efforts of those who will shoulder that responsibility, doing the best they can to protect and care for our elderly and infirm, those bewildered by loss of family and who often have no where else to go.

My mother moved into Edenvale when her dementia meant that she could no longer live at home. My brother and I were very grateful for the good care she received there, especially the prompt medical attention when she suffered a stroke.

My parents were both resident at Edenvale Home and Hospital for the last 4 years, and the approachable and caring staff provided excellent care and support throughout some very difficult times.

Look up articles of this place they seem to like to drug their patients than dealing with them professionally. If you complain they will kick you out instead of dealing with the issue.

My sister who had dementia lived here for 4 years before she died and received excellent care.
