Absolutely useless. Broke the tremolo on my guitar levering it with a screwdriver because he was to lazy to put the trem arm in. Didn't tell me this till I went to pick up the guitar, he mumbled his way through excuses & not only was he not willing to replace the part he broke he hadn't done the work required.

Went to get my guitar fixed and told him the exact issue and what needs to be fixed after I saw that this could be a common problem with the particular model of my guitar. He ended up taking the guitar apart and was unable to fix the problem. Told me he needed more time. I gave him another chance and still couldn't fix it. He told me that he needed parts that would cost more but that was the only way it could be fixed because the way i suggested would never work. Came back a week later and was still broken but had the new parts in. I paid him for his work (almost 130) and took it to the rock shop. The guy at the rockshop immediately knew what the problem was and offered to fix it for free right there and then and was done in under 30 minutes.

Gene is absolutly brilliant at what he does his craftsmanship is second to none. I have had two guitars built by Gene which are amazing he turns dreams into reality. I agree he takes his time and so he should - All the people on here that are having a cry about the turnaround is truly amusing, If you want someone to rush over your guitar and string it for you why don't you go to the Rockshop. On the other hand if you want a quality instrument looked at and cared for go to Gene. Cheers Pal

Really disappointing experience. I contacted Gene by phone last year and said to him i needed a urgent setup on my bass guitar. When i got to his workshop He agreed to do the work with a twenty four hour turn around. We verbally agreed on a pick up time the next day. Not only was Gene not there at the time we had both agreed upon. I had to ring him and wait fifteen to 20 minutes until he turned up. Then he told me he had forgotten to do the setup on my bass. In another words he completely wasted my time and failed to live up to the agreement to do a setup on my bass. Supposedly Genes done work for big name young NZ bands, but if your just an ordinary working muso go elsewhere because hes not reliable!

Gene is a regular technician for myself & the guitar stores I've worked for. His work is consistent & although he's always busy, his work is always quality.

Slow. Told 4-7 days. Three weeks later, job hadn't been started. Picked up unfixed. G-Spot guitars is a neglected residential abode (not a shop).
