Landing in Auckland after spending a week in Malaysia I was eagerly awaiting a truly gluten free meal. I had the buckwheat pancakes and was not disappointed. Great coffee as well.

I have been to this Café 4 times now and each time I have really enjoyed my experience, the salads are great and the coconut chew biscuits are fab - I would really like the recipe. The food is fresh and tasty and the service has been great.
Unfortunately a very poor experience here which is a shame because I like to visit a cafe after my workout at the gym next door and this one is handy. Below average food, poor service, they kept trying to take away my unfinished drink and was asked to move tables - they weren't even that busy. Customer service is obviously not a priority, I would not recommend.
Do not recommend. We work across the road and thought this would be a nice place to go for lunch to meet a colleague (who was on maternity leave). WRONG. The owner/manager refused to let us put together two tables, due to "health and safety". The place was completely empty and he was very rude and did not provide any options, even the staff looked shocked how rude he was! We prompty departed across the road to Dida's Wine Lounge & Tapas instead - they have a great selection of sandwiches, salads and quiches from the main counter - and the staff are very friendly and accommodating!
Funky set-up, doughnuts are epic, full of rich berry jus. Had the chicken wrap, not so good. Was a toasted pancake with cold chicken and flavourless salsa, bleuk. other food looked good but no bacon on the breakfast menu??? Appreciate the gluten free variety and coffee was top. Service from the new blond girl was the best Auckland can offer in the a.m. Also plenty of Les Mills trainers go here so eye candy abounds for both genders.
Notwithstanding that the food seems really nice (pie was outstanding), I am rather grumpy about the fact that I just about had my car towed. There were two car parks available, the one outside Grouchos had their sandwich board sign preventing anyone from parking there. So I parked in the one next to it which had no name plate on the kerb identifying it as belonging to someone else. Big mistake. The towaway signs are on the wall, but about 8 feet up from the pavement. Pretty hard to see when you're in your car, and believe me, I looked. Looked hard. At the end of the day, it's my bad, and my 80 bucks that the towie now has in his pocket. But totally could have been prevented if Grouchos didn't block off their own customer parking space. Thanks heaps guys. In spite of the nice food, I won't be back.
