This is Hinehopu's Wishing Tree - Historical Story to it that relates to Ngati Pikiao (The indigenous maori tribe)
A magnificent, accessible forest between Rotorua and Whakatane. (Between lakes Rotoiti / Rotoehu.) The trees are huge (and they are native, not redwoods). The only downer to the track accessibility is you can hear traffic most of the time. Also sad, there is very little birdsong and lots of pest sign. But this is a superb place to walk, and reflect in.
The Bush is clean but damaged. The 200m track is manageable for most and loops from the road through the Bush and back to the road again.
The history surrounding this walk dates back centuries, its a lovely easy walk through native forest with some lovely ancient trees to see
So Beautiful I almost want to selfishly keep it to myself Amazing nature that feels untouched by man (please keep it that way)
