We only spent two nights at the Copthorne but we enjoyed it. We knew what to expect having stayed in hotel rooms before but this room was the largest we had had, plus had a view which was the harbour and fantastic. The bathroom was a decent size also. The staff were friendly and helpful and we are definitely going back, in two weeks actually!!!

Rooms were quaint. Maybe I'm used to a different style of luxury but I found the room I had to have an older quaint feel to it. The shower was powerful and had the spread of a shotgun. Felt like an older Holiday Inn.
We stayed for 1 night in the Copthorne Hotel in Auckland, we have stayed in Wellington before and it has always been an enjoyable experience however, in Auckland a totally different sort of Copthorne unfortunately. We arrived and waited in reception, whilst waiting for the receptionist we noticed they had a door behind the counter that was open and the area from what we could see was filthy. There were boxes and ripped carpet and really not a good look. We both sort of commented on it going "uh oh what are we in for" jokingly. The service was very friendly in reception and when we got to our room, the bathroom was dirty. There was toothpaste residue all over the vanity which actually looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a while. There was dust in the bathroom vents and just really run down. All the seals in the bathroom looked dirty and I am sure you can imagine how this looks. We asked to move rooms of which there was no issue with this, again very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately on arriving at the next room, the cleanliness was still an issue but we stayed put as we obviously were not going to get any better and complaining is not our thing. When paying 139 per room, you do expect the rooms to be a lot nicer than they were and not so run down and of course clean! Sorry Copthorne Auckland Harbour City but you do need a makeover.
Location is about the only thing going for this aging eyesore of a hotel. I spent four nights there with my family. The room AC didn't work in the height of summer. The rooms seen to be maintained just enough to pass health and safety regulations. This would, at most, pass as a two star hotel in South Africa.
Very comfortable and convenient. Really nice breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Wow - so this is 4 stars now days????!! A 1980's hotel at best! Even used soap in my bathroom! No thanks Copthorne Hotel Auckland Harbour City! Won't be visiting again, that's for sure!
stayed at weekend like every body else i thought it was dated far too hot in room could not change air copnditioning was told they would bring a fan up to our room never arrived. noise was terrible . had sea food chowder as entree still looking for the fish very watery complained but told it was the best seller,coffee offered as a replacement breakfast was good .location good. asked for our room to be serviced on sunday was still not done at 3pm
Stayed for four days there. Excellent harbour location, but that is the only nice thing I can say about this place. It appears to have been built in the 1970's and that was the last time it was updated! It says it has internet but the wireless part is only in the lobby. If you have an Apple/Mac product you will be unable to use the internet in your room as it is not wireless and unless your bringing your desk top computer you will be s.o.l.. On a scale of 1-5 I give this a -3. I do not recomend this hotel.
