The reason for the poor rating is the unacceptable customer service in light of the covid 19 pandemic. We rented a van from Auckland and drove to the Coromandel. The next day Auckland entered lockdown. We were met with unbelievably poor customer service when we called them asking what to do about returning the van. Initially we were told we would probably have to pay to rent the van until lockdown was over! My partner and I spent most of the day on the phone and emailing, it was a nightmare. It was very much left up to us to find a way to return the van. Despite this being the third or fourth lockdown for Auckland, Jucy employees had no idea or plan for how to navigate this situation, they offered us no guidance and honestly they were utterly rigid and inflexible and insisted we return the van to their drop-off site - in fact, when I advised them we had been told we would only be allowed to enter Auckland if we proceeded directly to the airport they told us this would be unacceptable and they would not allow a drop off anywhere other than their site (which is not at the airport). I will be warning everyone I know not to deal with them due to their incompetent and lazy management.

Massive expectation mismatch. Promised low mileage cars and got a 180,000km car with duct tape sealing part of the windscreen and ancient roof rack that wasn't requested, and no option to have it removed. Fine for students but will stick to the main agencies from now on. Lesson learnt.

Avoid if you can, petty company to deal with. Our booking was called off due to lockdown and company didn’t offer a refund or else they’d take a considerable amount off of our booking amount. No empathy for people struggling in lockdown. Worst customer service
