I have put booked myself in for the yearly annual Christmas dinner which is a blast every year. There is also free live entertainment available in the form of local fight clubs held inside the guests rooms. I would highly recommend a stay and the prices of rooms are fairly priced for being free.

beds aren't comfy, service was terrible, i got abused by the staff daily, they make us shower with other people.

What have they done to it!! Worked there in the mid eighties. Should have been preserved and opened as an attraction. Live in Oz now. Loved working there.

I have not been here but I have known some of the guards that work there, due to having lived in Mt Eden. There are some profoundly evil people in charge of that place and it is an absolute blight on Kiwi society. We should all be ashamed of the monstrous behaviour and pathological attitudes (that pass as normal) of some of the staff. Rest assured, this is no 'correctional facility', this is a place where abusive psychopaths (who are too antisocial to be allowed to join a gang), come to exercise their sadistic pleasures. Remember too that this is not a prison for the worst of the worst, it's a place for petty crims, low-level violent offenders and brown people who made the mistake of 'getting smart' to a cop.
