Loved the visit to Rangitoto Island! A good walk around to the light house out in the water, as close as could get to it without a boat. Then up to the summit, great views of Auckland and around. But always have to watch where you walk.

Only way on or off the island with a ferry from the main island to Rangitoto. Surprisingly nice facilities with bathrooms, lots of shaded areas/benches to rest while waiting. Nice maps to help you get oriented when you arrive on the island for the first time.

amazing place, the view is so good. But a little bit tired to climb it, make sure you bring water and food.
Lived in Greater Auckland almost 50 years, & 1st time to Rangitoto, accompanied by these 2 lovely lasses from France. Most enjoyable day...
