We took our mum out to Sahana for her birthday. The food was absolutely divine. The owner went out of her way to specially cook the curries we wanted from scratch herself to cater for our dietary needs. There’s a huge choice of delicious curries etc including South Indian and Indochinese food to choose from. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The ambience was very calming and they played lovely soothing music in the background. Not too loud. Will definitely return and will be recommending Sahana to friends and family.

This place has really good dosa and other South Indian food. Easy off street parking available around the restaurant. The place seemed to be running a bit busy in regards to staff but our food came on time and was well prepared. It would be a nice place for a small group dinner if one wanted to book the place. Last but not the least it’s very reasonably priced and has lots of options for gluten free/vegans or vegetarians. I would recommend placing orders online for takeaways. P.S. Clean toilets. And the reviews here seemed genuine with an effort from owners to improve, unlike some other restaurants with automated responses.
Ordered via the phone for pickup at 6:08pm. Was told it would be 30 minutes. Arrived at the 30 minute time and was told it was coming and to have a seat. After waiting for 20 minutes, they said it would be ready in 2 minutes. 7 minutes later they brought out the order. Except it wasn't mine. When they clarified my order, they realised they had lost the ticket and that would be another 15 wait. This was after waiting 55 minutes. I told them to forget about it and left. The food is good if you actually get it.
Had the Mysore masala dosa. Was better than I expected it to be and quite a big portion. The strong masala chai wasnt that great. Milkier than I wanted.
The best South Indian food I have had in Auckland. No exaggeration. The food was delicious! The service was wonderful! I recommend the weekend brunch buffet that starts at 11.30 am. The prices are budget friendly too. Please give it a shot!!! You will not be disappointed.
Excellent food and great service!! Thoroughly enjoyed the real taste of chettinadu food. I highly recommend Sahana if you want to taste the authentic South Indian food.
Food was good, however shouldn't be compromising on quality of service, the supposed Manager of the restaurant doesn't like feedback, sounded like an illiterate who didn't know how to value customer feedback. A polite feedback turned to be an argument with the so called Manager who couldn't interpret the easiest language in the world... such personalities are no Managers, doesn't work well in a service industry.
Glad we discovered this place! It's the first of many of our visits... Thank you ! We totally enjoyed the authentic South Indian cuisine... savoured the homemade and fresh food experience . Excellent customer service, comfortable sitting and ambience . Highly recommend this place to all!
