Great park and wildlife/bird refuge with easily walkable trails that are well marked and well maintained. We loved the panoramic views from the hills, the waterfall gorge, walking through the wooded trails and through the sheep farms, visiting the large beaches, and stopping for a picture in the famous giant picture frame! It is a great park for short circuit trails, day hikes, bird watching and photography, running trails, family outings, or just a nice beach visit. Also, one of the local favorite places for kite boarding, too. A park that you must visit when in the area north of Auckland

Spectacular regional park! Not many other places where one can spend time walking through a bush track, see amazing wildlife and finally visit the beach front! There are great facilities on site incl a boat ramp (be sure to check out the wartime bunker near the ramp & waterfall gully), also a couple of campsites available here both for campers and also suitable for large motorhomes. Plenty of parking available at each part of the park.

Beautiful recreational park and a great track for running, hiking, walking, whatever your preference is. Nice bush walk takes you out onto a vast expanse of grass and views of the entire hauraki gulf. You may end up on Shakespear Beach which is a lovely spot for a swim.

Beautiful site best to stay Sunday onwards weekends are very crowded. There seem to be a problem with blocked toilets but I reported the problem and they were soon fixed. Popular with school groups but they were quiet and well behaved. Good safe swimming and very pleasant walks. And only an hour from Auckland.

Regional park and bird sanctuary. There are different trails in this park. Heritage trail takes you through rainforest like areas. There is a waterfall gully area in this trail where the climb is not too steep. Look out trail is steeper and open, but gives a good view of beaches, Auckland skyline and bay area. But the road is steep and made of loose gravel.

Awesome Family friendly for picnics, walking or both. We took picnic today, lots places to sit without feeling cramped. Lovely atmosphere and views overlooking Auckland harbour. A must go if you haven't been.

I absolutely loved staying at this place, in the self contained vehicle area. It’s a20 per night stay, & well worth the fee for the beauty & surrounding nature. There are Pukeko in abundance, fresh shellfish, clear water & peaceful surroundings at night. During the day it’s really busy with all kinds of visitors. I’d recommend a night away in this idyllic spot.
