I asked Carolyn at Sewing Studio to shorten my expensive new Mother of the Bride dress and she did a lovely job on the hem. However, although I had taken the dress in on a hanger and protected by a plastic sheath, it was returned folded many times and in an card-sized Whitcoull's bag. The dress was terribly creased, and if it hadn't been for the shop where I'd bought it from coming to the rescue with their new steamer, I would have needed to take it to the dry-cleaner's before I had even worn it.
