Delicious food, well presented, it's refreshing. However, only 1 bathroom for the whole restaurant. It creates inconvenience for the patrons. Other than that, the food are very nice, and waitresses are attentive.

Had a large group there for dinner. Our experience was great. Food is nicely presented with fantastic flavour. Service was prompt and courteous. Will be back for more...

So far my favourite Japanese restaurant (even compared to more posh ones in the CBD). I'd say this is a Japanese experience, it's not your average restaurant. Aside from the very tasty food, the restaurant has an authentic feeling. The staff are very friendly and the service is excellent. The music isn't too loud, so you can have a conversation. The place isn't too big, so it has a nice cozy feeling, especially with the well thought of light setting. We ordered 5-6 different dishes to share, and all of them were perfectly presented and extremely delicious. Prices are very reasonable, for the quality and service you're getting. It's no wonder they are full even on a weekday, so bookings are needed to get a table. This is a hidden gem in Kingsland, and easy to miss if you're not using the train station.

I would like to give 6 stars of 5 stars!!! Unexpectedly awesome. Every dish was unique and had flair. I can recommend the tataki, sashimi set, tempura - oh, and don't skimp on the cream brulee - a-may-zing

I’ve been Taiko on many occasions and I feel the need to write about because it deserves to be known. There are three things I love about Taiko, 1) The consistence in quality food here is amazing. Every time I return I get served the most amazing dishes with the most exquisite preparation. 2) The level of service is superb. Always lovely, caring and mindful. 3) This place FEELS Japanese, must be the ambiance, dark and cosy, love it. It may seem pricy at first but consider the quality of food, it’s then we’ll worth what you pay for.

Love this place so much that I’m actually reluctant to share this gem... BEST japanese restaurant I have ever been to in nz so far️ their service is good as well. Nice sashimi presentation and their wagyu sukiyaki is a bom course meal are really big as well!! Love their matcha icecream hehe. Haven’t been to any Japanese restaurant that is this good and not too overpriced. 6 stars!
