Diagnosed after trauma of violence but fell through the gaps in counties Manukau. Diagnosed with addiction when I had cancer, so ended up with the wrong services. I had to navigate a community. Along the way I met some wonderful people & knowledge around addiction services & addiction support. The thing with the beginning of my journey with community mental health is a data base entry and historical notes entered by people who have known me for 2 seconds. There was an an healthy transition back to Auckland being homeless and experiencing much grief and loss, traumatic scenarios and relocation from region to region to oftenly. Lost in a country with no stability. I was ignored my legal evidence, I was ignored with requests for support and what support looked like for me. I was over analysed by the phycological ones who to me seemed like they were committed to creating problems to keep me as a statistic and to study being maori. I'm a survivor of a violent attack and 2 lots of cancer, poverty hardship and a system failure, neglegance and stigmatization with descrimination and misundestanding. Poor lived experience from community services prevented me from being supported by problem solvers. I thank God above and enternally for seeing me through and for supporting me with the things I couldn't do not the things I could. Past present & future. Sometimes they get it wrong!!!! Sometimes all I needed was affordable housing when I had cancer not to live in expensive rentals with the wrong process and procedure to address debt and my medical health system what a poor excuse of a service, how can one women go grough homelessness with cancer and 3x dhb did nothing about it. Cruel humans. I'm moving forward.
