I had the best 4 weeks in The Pod. It has everything you need and very practical. It includes linen and has a fully equipped kitchen at the rear. Great size van also for accessing places a bit off the grid that other motorhomes can't access. The best way to travel around NZ!

Weather wasn't cooperating when we visited South Island -thanks to Little Whetu we've managed to adjust our original plans and enjoyed driving ahead to chase the sun!!! it is my first time renting a camper van and Little Whetu did not disappoint! Liz is also very accommodating with our request and despite the holiday break, she still finds time to check us in. Thanks heaps! @thepodcampervan
The best two weeks exploring the beautiful S.Island in our little pod! You can tell these vans have been designed by people who love to travel... it might be small but it’s efficient, everything is easily accessible and most importantly, it’s cosy! The team at Pod were so helpful, from providing us with our van at short notice, to being easily contactable when on the road. Nothing was too much trouble and they went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. Thank you for being the highlight of our NZ road trip, we will be spreading the word and recommending you to our friends!
We had an amazing 3 weeks traveling around NZ in Little Apiti (Adventurer). The vans are great and you get a lot of the things you need thrown in (unlike many rivals) such as chairs, kitchen utensils etc. The bed is super comfortable and it's quite cosy in the back. It does get pretty cold (we went in winter) as I'm not sure there is much insulation but we had a sleeping bag along with the duvet and were fine. The battery you get with the adventurer model is super useful, the fridge means you can live more off grid and still have plenty of good food and you can charge all your gadgets as much as you want without having to pay for powered campsites. NZ is so well set up for campervaning. With the fully self-contained pod you can set up on pretty much any gov land and be good, but there are also loads of free campsites, many with toilets, taps and bins. You can also of course pay for proper sites and make use of their facilities like kitchens and swimming pools but there's so much natural beauty to see we didn't bother with any of these. The van is a little old so can struggle up the hills and the engine isn't super efficient so you end up going through a fair amount of petrol but at this price it's what we expected and didn't effect our experience in any way. Overall it was one of the highlights of our trip, NZ HAS to be seen by road and we would 100% book with Pod again. - also, they informed me at the start of the rental that they have changed the excess procedure as mentioned in the previous review. They no longer keep the whole excess if there is damage to the vehicle. They just bill you for the cost which is obviously much fairer!
We had the most wonderful 3 weeks with our pod Little Lola. The team were super helpful with any questions when booking and also showed us in detail how everything with the van when picking up. The staff are very friendly and approachable. The van it's self was everything we needed, ample space inside and my 6 foot 3 partner could lie flat which was a bonus! We would recommend pod rentals and would be very keen to use them again if we had the chance to come back to New Zealand.
We had an excellent experience with Pod. The team were friendly, efficient and very helpful. The van itself was compact but had everything we needed for a month of road travel and the self-contained certificate was a must for freedom camping. A wonderful way to explore New Zealand. Table and chairs and kitchen utensils were included and a gas stove for cooking. We loved every minute.
I am so happy because I could enjoy the van for a month together with the full support from their customer service that made the best of my time in New Zealand. Even before the trip started they helped me a lot and went the extra mile to make sure I had all my answers and enquiries solved with very quick communication. I loved my van so much to the point that I couldn't let it go. Very often people will be surprised on how good and convenient the kitchen looks like. All in all, extremely reliable van and even better team behind that I would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to New Zealand.
