Late dining for us after a late night show, therefore we were very surprised we got a table after we checked other places in mission bay only to be turned away because they were in the process of closing the kitchen. Service was very friendly, food and drinks arrived in no time. I had the duck salad which was a little too citrus for me but my wife's chicken dish the dumplings and the calamari was amazing, mixed with a couple of generous glasses of beer. What almost turned out to be a quick stop into McDonald's eventuated into an intimate night with good service and food.

What an amazing place decor I wicked staff at just amazing helpfull polite and fast . The food is to die for probably the best little hidden gem in mission bay . Oh and the food is so so so good.

While the green curry and the chilli basil sauce wok were brilliant, what makes me give this restaurant a low rating is the awfully slow service that they offer. Not only were they slow but they also kept forgetting stuff that we had asked for.

Our experience at Ruan Thai, Mission Bay on the 25th of May 2016 was more than appalling. We had a group of 17 people and had let them know if this 4 days prior. There were a few things that made this experience bad, which are below. Firstly, the customer service was a huge let down. They were somewhat welcoming but also looked very stressed and confused as what was happening. We had a waitress come over to our table to order our food within half an hour, which was good. However, she then had to come around and re-take our orders as she had forgotten who ordered what. We then received our entrees within 20 minutes of then being ordered but then everyone drinks came after the entree, which was order at the same time as our entree and mains. Not good! Secondly, the first main arrived an hour and a half after the entree and then the last meal arrived 45 minutes after the first meal ... , which felt very informal and untimely. Further, quite a few people at our table ordered rice as you could imagine, but these arrived 20 minutes before the first meal was placed out which by the time the mains started to come the rice was cold and unpleasant to eat. Thirdly, inconsistency was a factor in the meals. One customer ordered a "mild" duck salad, which seemed like it would be a nice salad. However, when he received this salad it had 5 whole big dry chillies within the salad. He could not finish the meal, nor could he enjoy it being so hot when he expected a mild salad. Lastly, we do expect that in a restaurant like these there is going to be a bit of a language barrier, however, there was terrible communication between each employer. We recommend not taking a big group to this place. They were awful!
