At Ubuntu in Action (UiA), we are committed to community connection and to propagating a way of being that encourages and educates all to ‘lean in’ to each other. Our approach is one of prevention rather than intervention. We believe that this is the biggest piece of the puzzle if we are to tackle some of the alarming stats we have both here in NZ and globally, including the highest youth suicide rate in the OECD countries. The term Ubuntu (pronounced ‘oo boon tu’) is an African one meaning compassion, humanity and the notion that we are all inextricably linked. Ubuntu is an African philosophy- but a global behaviour.
