If you are a student and you are looking for a place to live, there are some things you should know first. Contrary to what the name would imply, Unihouse is not just for university students. In fact, anyone can apply, and it's not uncommon to be placed in a flat with non-students. In the first few months of my residence here, I was placed in a flat with a 16 year old kid who sold drugs from his room, and a man in his early 40's, who would drink himself into a rage, and occasionally follow people to the gym. The walls are also very thin. You can hear your neighbors long past the noise curfew. But on a quiet night, you can hear the reverberating sound of the power station next door. Lastly, the doors are very easily bypassed. I have known students here who have done this to let their friends sleep in the spare rooms. Nothing I've said here has been embellished, and I have merely detailed my own experience. Speaking for myself, living here has been out of necessity, and has been extremely uncomfortable.

would rate 5/7 if possible. Haven't actually been there myself, but a friend has told me its pretty good... besides one salty dude who left a 1 star rewiew. P.S. he blew up the microwave

Not a bad place to stay short-term, but a hell of a place to stay long-term. I stayed at Unihouse for the better part of a year, mostly because I read on their website that they don't lock you into long-term contracts. However, once I left, I found myself 700 out of pocket for trying to leave before the tenancy was up. I lost my entire bond, when only a month or two prior, a friend of mine left there on the same type of contract, months before her contract was up, and she got half her bond back. Very strange. The washing line is in the shade, so it took a long time to dry anything, and it would usually contain either bugs or be riddled with cobwebs. The washer/dryers are 3 per use, which got quite expensive as the year went on. I will say this for the property, the flat was fairly warm and clean. They provide you with a heater, tons of storage space, and I NEVER had a problem with parking (and I had two cars for a while). If the vacuum cleaner or the microwave broke, it was replaced promptly within 24 hours. The main bus route is literally right outside, so transport was incredibly easy to access. As for the one-star salty dude below, I lived with him during this time and he was always complaining about everything under the sun. Very judgemental, left passive-aggressive notes everywhere (some of which I took down to avoid needless drama), was often rude, and kicked up drama when there was none to be found. Also, the person who bypassed the doors was a locksmith, so if your flatmates aren't in that profession, I think your room's safe. Keep that in mind when reading his review. All in all, it's liveable, but it's not ideal if you want to stay there long term. P.S. He DID blow up the microwave.
