My husband and I went to Vinnies to celebrate my birthday last night. We had an excellent experience, top quality food, beautifully presented, with matching wines served from knowledgable staff. We were there for over three hours and really enjoyed the whole experience, we felt relaxed and comfortable and we were not worried about being rushed out the door. Thank you for making my birthday so special.

World class experience, fantastic food, superb service - all delivered with unashamed excellence. Like many Aucklanders, I've known about Vinnies for ever... but I didn't realise what I was missing until tonight. If this is Auckland's best kept secret, it shouldn't be any more. This is the best of the world - served up Kiwi style. In fact It's better than excellent, it's damn near perfection!

It gives me no pleasure to say this, but this place is pretension at it's worst. Imagine a reality cooking show where the contestants do everything they can to try and look fancy, but don't have the skills to pull it off. That pretty much sums up my entire experience. The seven course degustation menu was completely off the mark. From the amuse bouche soup served in "trendy" miniature milk bottles with straws (who wants to drink thick savoury soup through a straw?), to the parsley and orange "salad" (imagine a thick chunk of orange with parsley sprinkled on top, and you're there). Every course was trying hard, and failing This place is for suckers - people who think that they must be having a good experience because something costs more and has fancy names. Flag this and go somewhere that actually has good food.
