Great track for a family as it is pretty flat. We rode from waterview playground to Mt Roskill shops and back. About 16km or so mostly on cycleways. Through parkland, over a bridge over the railway tracks and then on the track beside the motorway. There's places for lunch on dominion Road although you'd have to go off the track and use the footpath for a while. The kids loved splashing in the water playground at then end to cool off

Easy enough ride for beginners, you can choose to off track and onto main roads if required. Approximately it is 3.4km in length and you can go over bridges and see the motorway. You can not get close enough to get shots of the waterview tunnel, however plenty if scenic shots to make up for this.
Good for cycling and walking.
It’s such an awesome combined walk and cycling path, there are many unique playgrounds and beautiful wooden works ! We love it so much !
Excellent walk along the Harbutt/Waterview walkway. Very well done.
Fantastic cycleway through parkland that allows people on bikes to avoid Great North Road.
Great facility, smooth, wide, family friendly cycleway that is well away from the road.
Waterview Shared Path is around 3.4km long. From Alan Wood reserve off New North Road, it follows the route of Te Auaunga/Oakley Creek to connect with Great North Road and features three new bridges. It is accessible from several points along the way, including Phyllis Reserve and the Unitec campus. Waterview Shared Path adds to Auckland’s growing cycling and walking network, connecting with the north-western cycle route along SH16 and with shared paths to Onehunga and New Lynn.
