Well, although this tunnel took some traffic away from Mt. Eden Rd and Dominion Rd, it is not as good as it should have been. You cannot surpass other vehicles, gee... you cannot even change lane!! There are only 2 lanes each way. 80k/h is just ridiculous. No extra lane for tracks. Without considering the asphalt does not have drainage (as the rest of the south-western motorway). This tunnel took over 1 year more than planned to be open.... to be honest, they could have taken a bit longer and make it right... Something smart they could do in the future, besides extending to at least 3 lanes each way (plus one lane for tracks), allowing surpass and increasing the speed limit (gees, if people are so bad drivers, perhaps they should be more strict when releasing driving license?), would be linking the south-western to the southern, from Onehunga to Greenlane.... This would be very useful, just saying...

I bloody love this tunnel. I simply wish everybody could read and obey the signs saying no lane changing in the tunnel.
Better if it weren't for the twerps who get frightened and slow to a crawl driving through it.
0930 Tuesday morning inside tunnel, car lost all power while in middle lane so immediately put hazard lights on, the traffic immediately slowed down enabling me to get to left lane, no horns blowing or angry drivers around then came to standstill , buy then all traffic behind me were indicating to go around me, could see heavy vehicles holding back traffic, just so impressed with the way everyone acted, then emergency vehicle arrived and pushed my car out of tunnel to safe area then transporter truck was there to transport my car to safe area at Rosebank Rd.The assistance given to me was absolutely first class.Credit to all concerned, Thank you
