I stayed here for 5 nights and liked this hostel a lot. The customer service at the front desk was excellent, clean with comfortable beds and a large kitchen and fairly large common area. It is located near the middle of downtown Auckland and is about a 10 minute walk from the center of downtown (there are buses if you do not want to walk). A couple of minor negatives are that the hostel is located at the top of a very steep and very short hill so if you are walking up the very short hill (rather than getting an Uber) it is going to a bit of effort and I visited in summer and the rooms were hot since I was on an upper floor. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby as well. The front desk provided excellent advice and suggestions. If I come back to Auckland I will probably stay here again

Very clean rooms and bathrooms. Very large kitchen with plenty of cooking and food storage space, which was nice. Location is fine - bit of a trudge into town and uphill on the way back. However, our 6 bed dorm was very cramped - there wasn't enough space for 2 people to pass in the room so if you weren't lying down on your bed you were in the way. Windows only opened a tiny bit and the two desk fans didn't help. All this meant it was stifling hot, particularly on the top bunk, so it was quite difficult to sleep. There was only one gents toilet and shower on our floor, and most other floors from what I could see. The shower cubicle had nowhere to hang anything and was also pretty cramped - every time I turned around in the shower I ended up knocking the tap which turned it off or made it really hot! It's not a particularly social hostel. The crowd that was staying here included lots of older people and some families with kids. Nothing wrong with that of course but maybe stay elsewhere if you're after a more social stay.

The best backpackers hostel I've ever been! The rooms and facilities are always clean and tidy. The kitchen is open 24/7 and fully equipped with heaps of cooking stuff. The plus is definitely the high speed Wifi which is super fast for a hostel Wifi. Unfortunately you cannot stay more than 10 consecutive days!

This was my first experience staying at a YHA hostel and I absolutely loved it. The staff are very courteous, respectful, and super helpful. I could do an early check-in and use the common areas until the standard 2 PM time. The kitchen was clean, cutlery neatly organized, all guest's food labeled and kept on the shelf. I stayed in a 4 bed, all girls room. The room had an attached toilet and a separate shower area. Surprised that there wasn't any door for it, just a curtain! Fun place to meet other fellow travelers. Highly recommended place!

If there is one word to describe this hostel. It's, and I'm going to type it with capitals, for emphasis: LUXURY. I've never been to the USA, but I've been in some absolute states, I tell you. So it's a pleasant surprise that this centrally located hostel is top of the pops. Absolute banger! The only negative is the price, we damn near had to take out a mortgage to afford our first 3 weeks here, and they don't let you stay for more than 21 days, which is somewhat understandable, because it makes the competition look like starters to this establishment's main course! And the dessert, you ask!? Well, that would be the absolute treasures that are the staff of this hostel. My mate even got lovey dovey with a beautiful lady and they got caught 3 times, for expressing their affinity for each other's aesthetics, if you know what I mean. The staff member that caught them didn't tell a soul! I recommend this place if you're by yourself, your partner, family or your cat! Just make sure you've got a little bit extra to afford the experience.

This hostel was a nice place but unfortunately now it is closed due to the impact of COVID. You can stay in its sister hostel instead.

Decent hostel but pricey just like everything else in Auckland. 60 bucks will get you a twin room 90 will get you a queen bed without sharing a bathroom. Kitchen is huge, if you share a bathroom expect to wait to use the toilet and shower. Overall it's a nice hostel but Airbnb probably has better accommodations for the same price. It sucks you only get 2Gb of internet a day. I went through mine in a couple hours.
