Politely told them I couldn't go to orientation due to unforseen circumstances with finance and was abruptly implied I didn't have the commitment to attend their school. Glad I dodged that bullet.

This Uni is horrible. I went here because it was pushed to me as a game development course but I knew something was up the first day. We had to go in for the welcome orientation at 9am then sat around doing nothing until the class time at around 1pm, no one told us where to go between these times, we weren't showed around anywhere and just left to run wild. The course started with app and web development which was obviously not what I signed up for along with most other students. The app development tutor talked quietly, worked away at code by himself and expected us as new students to understand it without explanation, then he went and sat on his emails the rest of the class and you would be lucky to get more then an ok from him when you asked for help. From what I heard from students who started halfway through the year they had to start doing the second semester and the uni thought that was an acceptable thing, dumping new students into "game" development with no knowledge of anything done in the first semester or even how to code and develop any sort of game. I left before even starting the second semester which they have now been causing problems for. I didn't get results back until I had left and even then I was lucky to be able to sign into the web page to check it. Never got a single result back whilst I studied there only after I had moved. Now I have to deal with them lying to Studylink saying I didn't pass half of what I did and now causing so many problems. A pack of homeless people could probably run a more organised school then this. Anytime you had a problem with something they would divert it to being your fault like the school was some kind of perfect reality where they couldn't possibly be doing something wrong. Honestly sad I chose to go here.

Recommend this place for Bachelors of Creative Software cause its very practical and hands on, tutors may assist you in some of your struggles. 1st Year you work on web development then last half year you work on mobile app/game development. 2nd year you work on basic modeling skills then practice working on AR/VR development then last half you do a group project and build a game. 3rd theirs 2 projects and basically its sums up everything you've learnt and you have to make to projects of your liking and research

Did a three years animation bachelor with these guys. Started off strong but quickly went down hill second year. Poor curriculum, the games and interactive major is a joke (one assignment was basically 'teach yourself something new'). It's a bachelors but we only have classes twice a week and are expected to cover a weeks worth of content in one 4 hour lesson. Admin and organisation is shocking. Save your money and go to another college or teach yourself, which is basically what I did at this school. (this is from back when it was called Animation College)

I recommend; Tutors are skilled, and Animation College is known as "the Animation School" to go to in Auckland; you also get the opportunity of hands on experience; plus plenty of work opportunities in Animation in NZ, and overseas!
