Riversdale Road
N/A
It's been a while since I've done a day hike to a hut. Although the track is not marked, it does just follow the river. Starting from the car park, you cross the river a few times. So definitely check the weather. Rain can affect flow of the river quickly. You will walk past the site of the old hut and the new hut is about 25 minutes walking from there. 4 hours it took us. (Two novice adults and an 11year child, stopped for rest breaks along the way) The hut itself is very nice. Fire place, a drying rack, plenty of benches. Two big dinner tables. Two separate rooms that sleep 10 people. (20 person hut) compostable toilet outside behind the hut. There is a water supply but make sure to boil it for 3 minutes first to sterilize it.

The track is marked, and doesn't just follow the river Look for the usual orange triangles. If you stop seeing those, it's time to cross the river diagonally or look a bit harder just to make sure. Pink, yellow and blue markers are for trappers not trampers.
Great Backcountry hut. Clean long drop. Great picture windows
