Stunning. Great views and vistas. Check the times for the observatory. It was closed on Monday-Wednesday which was a real shame.

This is a magnificent lake in NZ. It has a very beautiful color and inviting. Close by, you get to see awesome flower farm (Lupin), Good Shepherd Church, the statue of Shepherd dog. It's also near some restaurants if you're hungry and keen to buy some souvenirs at the tourists shops. There are also backpackers spaces and hotels along if you want to stay not too far from the lake. Tekapo springs is also a good spot to visit where you can try the hot pools, spa, snow tubing (in Winter), stargazing. It also has a cafe if you're a coffee and sweets lover.
Like a magnet, Lake Tekapo attracts your gaze at every moment. Intense turquoise tones, reflections of mountains, ripples and shadows forming patterns, ducks quacking and boats humming. Early morning I took my coffee down to the lake's edge - the mood over the misty mountains and still waters made me want to step out and slowly catch the dragon, such a perfect setting for tai chi that summer's morning. Walking or cycling round the lake allow different vistas. A climb up St John's Walkway gives amazing views from above. Afterwards a soak in the hot springs soothes the body and relaxes the mind. Sunset cast reddish tones over the mountains. Starry skies formed a blanket at night.
