The Public Policy Club is a student run, non-partisan club at the University of Auckland that aims to increase youth engagement in politics. We dispel jargon, allowing students to fully engage with political dialogue. We also work to help students make informed and meaningful contribution to policy solutions in their community. Finally, we provide professional development, helping students develop their skills and making available information about public sector opportunities. To achieve this, we run a variety of events throughout the year. These include social events, competitions, speaker evenings, and more. In addition to this, being a student organisation there is ample opportunity to become involved in the organisation process. PPC has a broad executive who work alongside delegates to help the club realise its goals. In everything PPC does, it is underpinned by our core values. Firstly, we aim for impartiality and fairness. In a society that often amplifies polarisation, we want give a balanced view by providing members with a multitude of different perspectives. Diversity is crucial not only for creating better policy, but also a richer club environment. In addition to this, we also strongly value inclusivity and access. We want all students to be included in the conversation, regardless of what they are studying or their prior knowledge. Therefore, we work hard to create a club environment that is welcoming and feels open to all.
