We very much enjoyed learning about permaculture, organic gardening and living in harmony with nature at Blockhill. Excellent hospitality comfortable, affordable accommodation in the garden.

Blockhill is a very relaxing place to get closer to nature and learn about food forests and gardening. There are lots of farm animals and birds. The birdsong in the morning is the best kind of alarm clock and is very refreshing. I just spent a couple of nights there, and got the best sleep I've had in ages, in a rustic cabin with an outdoor toilet and shower. If you like living simply and want a peaceful escape, I highly recommend a visit to Blockhill.
An amazing place run by amazing people! A fantastic example of permaculture and food forestry, and how to create abundance in a dry climate. The cottage is a great spot for a weekend getaway, and we received a very warm welcome and delicious home-grown food from Olmec and Melisa. Couldn't recommend it highly enough!
What a magical setting! Melisa and Olmec have done an amazing job of creating a peaceful, relaxing environment and were both very accommodating. They also went out of their way to answer our questions about the beautiful permaculture based garden setting they have, which has given us plenty of ideas for our own home. Just a beautiful place to unwind.
I stayed at Blockhill for a few days and had a splendid time. I loved the outdoor shower, heater with a wood burner in a beautiful wood cabin and the daily feeding of the free ranging ducks, chicken and piggies. The location is beautiful and feels calm and remote. Olmec and Melissa are such great people to be around with and I'd wish to spend time with them and their amazing Permaculture farm again!
BlockHill is truly a delightful place to spend time. For those interested in cultivating a slower pace, taking a break from screens, and communing with some very friendly pigs, look no further! You will come away refreshed and inspired.
This idyllic hideaway has all the elements of a self sustaining, ecologically sound experience. The peaceful serenity and natural environment compliments the thoughtful and creative application of permaculture forest gardening concepts. We love our visits.
Why only 5 stars!lol this place is awesome. Definitely worth the drive and a few nights rest n recovery.
