Chalice is a large-scale sculpture on display at Cathedral Square in the town centre. This is the work of Neil Dawson and was installed in 2001 for the 150th anniversary of the founding of Christchurch. This is a nearly metre tall steel sculpture, the shape of a inverted cone which appears in the form of a solid base, changing into connecting weave of plants which tower upward into the sky. It is a creative monument design that is attractive to see at Cathedral Square. The Chalice is nice to see during the day but is also worth passing by after dark when it is lit up with floodlights. We enjoyed seeing this monument at both times.

The metal CHALICE by Neil Dawson stands close to the Christchurch Cathedral. It was installed in 2001 to mark the New Millennium & the 150th anniversary of Canterbury foundation. The CHALICE is 18meters high & the metal is cut into the shapes of native plants indigenous to the area. It looks great day or night.

It's a nice big chalice

I mean it’s a big chalice. Can’t drink out of it, holes all through it. Over all you remain parched.
