Beautiful. Relaxing. Peaceful. A jewel in the crown of Christchurch. Rose gardens are spectacular. Lots of plants have identification plaque on them...helpful.

Of the many botanical gardens that the major cities of New Zealand have to offer I would say that Christchurch was probably the best. A sprawling park landscape it's best to get lost and wander around, the collection of trees is broad and host to some beautiful specimens. The glass houses are brilliant too. Nestled in a bend of the Avon/Otakaro river it's a tranquil retreat in the middle of the city, it's also free to enter, which feels almost criminal considering how well kept it is. Highly recommend, a must see in Christchurch.

This is a very beautiful botanical garden, and there are lawns where you can rest and play. Fortunately, the sun is quite warm in the afternoon, so I wander around in the park, sit by the river and watch the wild ducks playing in the creek.

Stunning gardens set in the expansive Hagley Park. There are so many paths through the gardens, you could easily visit multiple times, and still discover new gardens and plants. The conservatories are definitely a highlight, as are the water gardens

Alot of work goes into these gardens and it shows. It is a lovely place to visit and walk or should I say wander through all the lovely different flower beds and very established trees. So pretty. Anyone would enjoy!
