My favourite place to have lunch outside in Christchurch on a sunny day overlooking the botanical gardens. Great seafood choices and on our last visit I found some great Douro reds at reasonable prices that I haven't noticed before.

Curators House Restaurant should get 5 stars just for it's location and history in the stunning botanic gardens. Absolutely worth the visit on a warm summer afternoon. Equally on a cold winter's day the interior is cosy and has a lush historic ambience. Add to all this, great food and excellent customer service and it is a winner all round.

The Curators House provided a wonderful atmosphere and outstanding meal for the first night of a group tour in the South Island. All travellers were most impressed with the evening and the chance to get together and get to know one another in such luxurious surroundings. Having our own upstairs room was a real bonus.

My wife and I booked the Curators House for a special Valentines lunch. We arrived just before our 1pm reservation. We were seated inside as the day was cool and we were asked if we wanted water which we ordered. Unfortunately it all started to go downhill from there. After 30 minutes the water still hadn’t arrived and no one had appeared to take our order. In the end we were so frustrated, we left - there were still no staff in sight. Very disappointing.

Beautiful historical old house. Great ambience at a perfect location, right at edge of Botanic Gardens. Dishes were delicately prepared and prices were reasonable.

We attended a gathering of a large group staff were wonderful, assisted in any way. Eg more of the particular wine. Coffee was excellent and I was surprised to he able to get an espresso given the large group. Food excellent also.

Came here looking for tapas and we weren't dissapointed. All three of us were so happy to have found something so authentic and with such great variety. Michael our waiter was lovely, really chatty and attentive. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back to sample some more of the main menu.
