I had major problems with both eyes, a very anxious time for me. Fifteen trips to eye department two surgeries. With the eye that worked well I could see they were very busy however the staff were always professional and very friendly. I always understood the next step to my recovery and felt very confident in their care. Top marks from me 20/20. Sight is good now, thank you.

The eye department do an excellent job. Some tips: 1. Due to this being a public service, please understand that the resources are limited hence there will be long wait times. Please take some form entertainment such as a book or earphones or even take the opportunity to meditate. 2. Please see you local optometrist first unless you have been booked and are being reviewed by the eye department. An optometrist is able to communicate with the eye department so that you can be triaged appropriately. This will ensure all runs smoothly.

10 out 10 for help / care / service. As over the last 12 days I have attended the christchurch eye clinic 5 times. All the staff were amazing, I cannot thank them enough for their care and commitment. How lucky we are to have such a dedicated group of qualified and skilled people to help us when we need them. Well done to you all.

Wonderful! Last week unfortunately I was diagnosed with a detached retina. I had to go to the eye clinic urgently for an operation. From the time I got there about 2.30 the service was great. I was explained the procedures along the way, was admitted to the ward to await the surgery. I was taken to theatre about 10pm (they had to wait for a theatre because some victims of the volcanic eruptions were taken to ChCh) To Lewis Lam and his team a huge thank you for saving my eye. Well done The Eye Clinic

Great new building and wonderful staff! You need to allow for parking and procedure times as with any medical appointment but they give you information and explain the procedures well! I really don’t understand the negative reviews because they are very professional and friendly

Partner was contacted for eye surgery appointment. Gets to the day we are up and in by 7AM at Papanui Eye Surgery which we are then told booking has been moved to Christchurch Women's Hospital. Rush over to Christchurch Womens to then be told that its been cancelled until next month. No accountability. No contact. Great job team...

This is NOT a free public health facility. Even when they know what is wrong they require an expensive private referral before they will see you.
