Had the 8-course chef's selection with a friend. All courses were impeccably presented and delicious - the crayfish dumplings were definitely the star of the show! We counted 7 courses received (not including the rice) and waited for the dessert course; after about 25 minutes we flagged a waitress to say we hadn't gotten dessert. We were then informed there is no dessert course. We said we only had 7-courses and were told the meal could be 6 - 8 courses, depending on the night (different from what we were told when we sat down). We said it was very strange to have a multi-course meal and not end with a dessert or at least some little sweet bite and the waitress said there are desserts on the menu. We said we would order a dessert then, but were then told the kitchen was closed. We would have appreciated the opportunity to have ordered one before it was too late. When we went to pay the acting manager on apologized that we only received 7-courses as there were 8 that night but one was missed. She kindly took 10% off the bill. The food was amazing and I would not hesitate to return, and would recommend going here to anyone. I would suggest the restaurant make it clear that the multi-course meal does not include a dessert option so patrons can order one if they chose before the kitchen closes.

Our first time at MS and we were impressed! Our drinks were slow to come out, but after that everything was great. The food was delicious, lots of yummy dumplings and lovely seafood combinations, as well as a very nice drinks menu. The space is bright and airy and there is an outside balcony too, but today was a bit cold and windy so inside it was. Service was awesome too, friendly and they knew their stuff. Was a bloody great lunch and will definitely be going back!

We had the best night at Midnight Shanghai tonight! Our server was fast, friendly and efficient. The food was delicious, the best we've had in a long time. Our favourite was the crispy prawn and scallop balls, they were divine. Best experience at a restaurant we've had in a long time. Special thank you to Michelle for being so friendly and accomdating. We definitely recommend this restaurant!

Rose was amazing. She went above and beyond to make us happy. She didn’t act annoyed with all our requests and took real good care of us. She has such a good and infectious aura around her. Food was also great. The chef, who I was told is Nate, made a lot of menu changes for us which was greatly appreciated. As I told Rose, I’m a hard guy to please but I honestly have no complaints. I’ll definitely be back for more chicken noodles

I'm not one for writing negative reviews but I was incredibly disappointed with the food and service. Me and a few friends went here for high tea and were really let down. The staff had absolutely no manner and looked like they wanted to be any where but there working, they never cracked a smile or were pleasant. I've had a few high teas over the time and I unfortunately cannot rate this one. I personally think high tea is about having petite food items. But we were served big pieces of hard sour dough with salmon and cream cheese- the textures were wrong and none of us could eat it. The tart cases were hard and had no flavor. The only thing we enjoyed were the mint/ chocolate pops which were yummy. But over all we won't be coming back unfortunately.

Great service amazing food :) As someone who has high allergies: peanuts, coriander, fenugreek soy as well as being vegan and I was thrilled to still have so many choices to choose from. Highly recommend

We had mum's 60th here with 14 people, and it was outstanding. I couldn't recommend this place more! The service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. My sister, who can be a bit fussy and doesn't even like eggplant is a huge fan now! We did the chefs tasting menu and it was such good value for money, we got to try so many things - thank you for a very memorable night!

The food was delicious. The chef did a amazing job. Cannot fault the food or drinks we were served last night. Although we did have some constructive criticism. Our waitress, small, black hair, Asian descent, needs more support and help. We believed it is the language barrier but it was hard to communicate with her. She took wrong food to our table, dropped it and run and did not come back to check on us. Unfortunately she was also at the cash register and looked very confused when we tried to explain the situation to no avail. This waitress obviously needs support and we did not see the manager once. We hope management will take better care in training and supporting their waitresses in future. In saying this she was doing her best and we sympathise it is hard when English is your second language. We still enjoyed ourselves, but just found the language barrier a bit hard and ended up with random food we didn’t order.
