New multi-functional building to replace the old classical building lost in the Feb 2011 earthquake. Earthquake scarred remains of the old columns now stand as a tribute to the 'old' as well as the Bevington Pipe Organ originally installed in the old building in 1915, with the pipes being removed after the September quake damaged the building, and woodwork recovered from the ruins & restored. The 'new' is a building of glass and wood with polished concrete floors and a 'Cloud of Witnesses' made up of signatures of former church members taken from the members books going back to the 1880's and etched onto wood salvaged from the old building.

Pillars cafe sign outside drew me in for a great Jailbreaker coffee and delicious toasted sandwich. Fresh tasty cabinet food served by lovely people. Went back with a friend the following day and were given a tour of the wonderful new auditorium - fab space to stage a conference, concert or recital. Beautiful pipe organ too! Excellent rebuild and sure to be a great asset to the community. Will be back for more coffee!

Wow I was blown away by the new church that they had built after the 2011 earthquake. A lovely place of worship with very friendly minister along with his wife. Made us feel very welcome and afterwards we had a cuppa. Wheelchair access and toilets available.
