Food was good. Good for price and quality. It could have been a good night but the service was very poor and slow. We had to repeatedly ask for drinks. Our table was not cleared and the waitress did not smile at all.

Food was good and waitress was friendly and helpful explaining the menu. We ordered the titanic which had various types of food from the menu so we got to try everything! Highly recommended! Next time we will come to try sitting in front Teppanyaki, the other tables seemed like it was a lot of fun

Went there in our South Island tour. As my friend was taking us to the nearest Chinese restaurant but which was closed because of some reason, so, we walked in to Sura. They mentioned initially about the time that may take to prepare the food and we agreed on that. Even though they took more time than they mentioned us, the food was worth of waiting. Being a huge fan of Japanese food and culture, those were the best ( in context of freshness, presentation and taste) Japanese food I ever had in NZ. Will not miss to visit whenever I am in Christchurch, for sure.

Had dinner here, and the overall experience is somewhat okay. Like the decor, servers are friendly, but mixed reviews for each food component. So let’s break it down Sashimi - well plated, with very fresh ingredients. Highly recommend this. Karaage - not sure what they marinated this with, but it surely doesn’t taste anything like karaage, but it taste like just fried chicken.. not in a very tasty way, even with the condiments. Tempura - nice selection of vegetable, the coating falls off too easily, but at least it taste good enough. But! Please use a larger bowl for the dipping sauce, you can barely get any on it with the awkward tiny square plate. Cute sauce plate, but not practical. Tepanyaki - ordered the set dish, and the appetiser was a small bowl of fried chicken strip, which is just meh tbh. Vegetable could use a better seasoning, it didn’t taste very good. Lamb is nicely done. Beef is overcooked, requested done level (medium-rare is close to well done). But at least it is still tender and flavourful. Chicken is nicely done. Seafood is of okay level. Miso soup, served wayyyyyyy too hot Drinks, nice selection of sake and tap beers of fair prices. Now to the environment, it is a tepanyaki restaurant, so it is expected that smell will get to your clothings and hair, so no issue with that. HOWEVER! A big thumbs down for the tepanyaki chef performance, they are doing so many thing in an exaggerated way, making lesser of an enjoyable performance, more of annoying presence. For example, there is no need for you to constantly knock your seasoning shaker so loud, every time you season something with salt and pepper. If you wanna make some noise, at least make it sound rhythmic, don’t make it sound like children doing tantrums with their utensils (cuz that’s what it feels like dining there, I’m more irritated than I am entertained). Overall the experience is okay-ish. There is definitely room for improvement.

Great food shocking service. Impossible to get replenished water after asking multiple watresses. Out of our 8 guests 2 orders got missed altogether. Asked for a bottle of wine and 5 glasses and the waitress turned up with a glass of wine. After asking the manager to sort out our problems he did give the 2 missed orders which came out late at no charge. Staff need some serious training and I thought there was an excess of hospitality staff.

Really disappointed! We have visited this restaurant many times since it opened and was always so good but the last 2 visits have been a very different experience! The food is still great but the service we've received has been pretty awful and last night when we asked about our food after waiting for half an hour, we were treated even worse! Time for a new go to Teppanyaki.
