Been using this gym for 5 years and has everything you could want. Only negative is it be busy at peak times. Still, can't remember haveing to ever wait more then 20 minutes for anything and there's a strong 'work in' culture

My favourite place in UC. Everything under one roof. They arrange so many sessions of different activities like yoga, zumba and other fitness activities. They also organise different indoor games and court can be booked online. On other hand, Gym has everything related to heavy weight exercise. You can also hire personal instructor which you have to paid separately. There is separate room for core body exercises. For girls they have separate room to do exercise. Also there is squash game zone and boxing zone if you are interested than you can book it before going. It's 4 nzd for half an hour session. Go and use this wonderful facilities after all you pay for this through your student lavy fees.

Very poor management at this gym. Lower Staff members are great but management sets a culture that is disgusting towards paying customers. Interrupt mid set and talk down to you. Told I can’t use chalk when they haven’t had chalk in stock for 6 months. And then told to vacuum up the chalk in a condescending tone. Management instantly deflects any accountability into staff members. If I wasn’t forced into membership because of UC I would Go elsewhere. It is the worst gym I have been to which is a shame because it had a lot of potential and management of the place is selling It short.

Good gym and rec centre. Can often find the King of UC heating up there

Generally, they are pretty great. People who are not UC students and staff can still register for membership and their prices are cheaper than most of the gyms in the neighborhood. Of course, the equipment might be a bit primitive and we cannot expect the place to be like the gym of a 5-star hotel. But the UC Rec Centre is great in its own way. & they also have got some nice products for sale, esp. the protein supplements at a discounted price.

Staff are rude. They treat their members like Children because they get an automatic payment from the student levy. For example one staff member told me chalk was not allowed and they use liquid chalk. Well lady the liquid chalk hasn’t been there for about 6 months. There was no need to stop me mid set and rudely tell me to get rid of my chalk and vacuum it up. The equipment is often thrown around and not organised, mixed weights and stuff is often dirty. For the price you pay you get the most primaries equipment and bad attitudes from staff. If they could refund my student levy I would go to city fitness as at least they treat you as a paying customer

Good place for students to work out and very busy when it’s peak hours. Loved it during summer where people are less. Have a lot of facilities in just one place so you pretty much can do a lot there. Huge locker rooms and showers. Place is good enough for certain amount of students, but if we are looking for more students, renovation might be needed.
