Fantastic food and very friendly staff. Food was full of flavour and more importantly authentic. Good ambience inside the restaurant. It is small but the food is great.

Hutong's catch is fusion street food. Hutong's prices are, as the menu so aptly puts it, "Glamorous". The food here is definitely good, don't get me wrong. As far as asian places in Dunedin, this place is very good if you're expecting a more European dining style with great asian dish choices on the menu, but you do pay a premium for that. The menu hits the right balance between not having so many items as to scare away curious eaters, and not so few that you're out of options. I only wish that the menu catered more towards the street food, and less to the restaurant food. Recommendation: Beef Tataki

Didn't quite live up to our hopes for a stand out meal, due to some of the more interesting choices on the menu which had lured us here, all being off the menu. Not sure if this was the season (just before NYE when just about everywhere else was closed) or bad luck, but it put a dampener on the meal. That said, the dishes we did order tasted fine, were well-priced (a student town with student prices), service was fast, and the choice of beers and wines by the glass was surprisingly good.
Great setting and ambience but the food all seemed a little too toned down /westernised for our tastes. Good range of dishes too select from though, and staff were super friendly. Great drinks selection
We had a recommendation to check this restaurant out so off we trotted. Upon arrival we had a look at the menu and it looked good, the place was clean, staff friendly and quite busy. Then the food....it was just stunning. Fresh, tasty and diverse. All we both had was top notch but the Shanghai dumplings with Panang Curry Sauce was out of this world. I would go back just for these beauties. All in all a great experience and we’re certain to return.
Fish Steak is delicious... the chili is sooo hot...
This place is top quality , what a great menu and delicious drinks even the non alcoholic are great! highly recommend something for everyone vegan gf and all
