I like this place very very much! so lucky I am the only visitor the morning I visited, and nice talk to the owner of this museum, he is nice and gentle. When he heard I was a medical student, he said this place was a favorite of medical school students because we all love bones, absolutely true! haha... 120% recommended!

This is one of Dunedin’s truly hidden and little-known gems… and no, the title is not a typo: this is a museum of natural mystery rather than history. The Dunedin Museum of Natural Mystery, set up by local artist Bruce Mahalski, spreads across three rooms of a private villa, where walls are adorned with his collection of animal skulls and skeletons, tribal masks from around the world and even a petrified cat. One of the highlights is Mahalski’s own art: fantastical sculptural creations using a whole range of animal skeletons. Heidi Renata - Wellbeing & Relaxation Expert

Great displays of biological interest & also PNG & African material and a wide variety of art objets created by the homeowner, who previously worked as an art tutor iat Inverlochy House, Te Aro, Wellington.

Thoughtfully curated by Dunedin artist Bruce Mahalski, the museum is a must-see if you're visiting the city. It's open Friday to Sunday, but apparently it is possible to contact Bruce to see if he can make it happen. And at 5 it's a great price for a great experience. It's not your usual museum, but houses an unusual array of ethnic and biological displays that range from the wierd to the bizarre to the fascinating but always interesting - all in three rooms of Bruce's house. Definitely worth a visit and only a few minutes walk from George Street in downtown Dunedin.

An unmissable place to visit if you’re in Dunedin. Creepy, insightful and incredibly interesting. Also keep your eyes peeled for the amazing murals all over the city by the Museum’s curator/Artist Bruce Mahalski. Thank you Bruce!

Lovely little curiosity of Dunedin's eclectic art scene. Will not be appropriate for everyone but will be of interest to anyone with an interest in natural history or morbid curiosities. Well displayed and presented. Holds various exhibitions from local artists and has artworks, books and sculptures available for sale. Note there are limited hours due to it being in a private home and there is a 5 entry fee.
