Barrys Bay Cheese Factory has an interesting display of locally made cheeses on display and for sale. There is a good range of other items for sale also. Well worth stopping for a browse when on the way to the Hilltop Inn.

Always stop here when visiting Christchurch on the way back from our day trips to Akaroa. Can’t help but fill our basket with a selection of cheeses and other goodies. Beautiful cheeses. Favourite in New Zealand by far. Fig & walnut paste is also right up there. Always happy to support New Zealand buisness.

Best cheese shop you'll find around these parts and has been a long and well kept secret outside of Canterbury or Banks Peninsula. Well stocked with the favourite cheeses you may know and possibly others you can taste that you've yet to try. The packs of cheese off cuts and odd ends are cheaper, but just as good. And you won't find those off cuts anywhere else for sure. Needless to say my fridge is now well stocked with Barry's Bay cheese and cheese accessories.

On the way to Akaroa from Christchurch, you find this factory with a small outlet. The staff there was welcoming and friendly. It's a nearly kept, well presented place. From the store you can see them making the cheese. When I was there, they were getting the materials ready for the press. You get to taste free cheese and get to buy them for cheap. Overall a good experience.
