Ate here when the pub turned us away at 7.15pm as they had closed the kitchen. The staff were super friendly and obliging and made us cod and chips with a side salad. Really good value and perfect for what we wanted. Super view down the harbour, probably the best view from any restaurant or bar in the Akaroa region. Only hint is please give the windows a good clean as a number of pesky flies had met their maker on the windows! In summary friendly, accommodating good food, great value, will be back.

Marked at two stars as they used to have their own Hummingbird blend of coffee and now only freeze dried on the shelves. As a community store and pub it does what it says on the box. But with so much passing tourist and holiday trade you'd think there would be some seasonal opportunities to feature more locally produced sweets, honey, beverages etc. Coffee also can be patchy, wish they would switch to something less mainstream like Lyttleton Coffee Co or the Anchorage where they may get better training & support.

When in Akaroa, we wanted to get some salmon, for which I am told the town is renown, for dinner. The four square didn't have any so we crossed the road to the butcher and fishmonger. They only had some smoked salmon in stock so we bought it. However at 150 per kilo, I do think that they will need to get their act together if they wish to survive in our post Covid, tourist free world.

Fun!! Great coffee and a game of pool. Shame we were pressed for time I could have stayed longer!

The view is stunning, the food however is not. Ordered the big breakfast, nothing big about it no mushrooms or even tomato & the "cook" wearing her jacket microwaved the spaghetti, egg straight on the toast & given a small packet of Marge on the side of plate. Also the place needs cleaned up & the mould removed from the bottom of the windows, has a funky smell, that will more than likely be the mould. The coffee wasn't great either, now know not to stop in there again.
