I have attended HGHS since I was a Year 9 till I was in Year 13. The teachers at this school were very lovely and caring towards their students and they have done their best to make me feel welcome. I will miss this school a lot, because it felt like a home since I've spent my teenage-hood here. But I won't miss all the stress from exams and assessments I had to do. The best advice I want to give to anyone reading this is... - find a good supportive group of friends - find a good supportive teacher who you can talk to openly about things you are stressing with at school or maybe find a good school counselor - study early, don't do things last minute - always work hard to pass! It doesn't matter if you don't get merit or excellence, achieve is just fine. - participate in school events, they are fun to do and who knows you could make new friends. - be respectful and don't involve yourself in pointless drama. It's best to mind your own business Yupp, I'd say that's all I have. Best of luck to new highschool students, everything goes by fast so enjoy the moment right now.

I come to this school. I hate it here. The only reason why I’m not dropping out is because I don’t want to disappoint my parents or anything. The teachers well a “dean” makes it very hard for me to even feel welcomed at this school. Says she wants me to not feel intimidated by her and apparently they are suppose to “support” you but no, all I feel is stress stress stress from her commanding me and not understanding us. The only thing I like about this school would be the careers office tbh because they are the most wonderful women ever and so supportive but the school just doesn’t know how to choose supportive deans do they. We need deans who understands us not deans who just shout at us. I would give this a 0 star if I could. All that matters to this school is UNIFORM and ATTENDANCE, not our well being. Don’t let your daughter come here. It’s hell.

As a transgender boy, I was not happy with how I was being treated, all because I still had a vajayjay. I identify as male and asked for people to use he/him pronouns, though I am still biologically female; everyone still used she/her pronouns. I was forced to use the bathroom outside on the field as girls didn’t like the fact I was using female bathrooms

I wish I could say something good about this school since I was there for 4 years (moved schools for year 13) but truely I have no positive opinions about this school. The girls are nasty and the school sees all of the bullying and harassment and they do nothing about it. All they care about is the appearance of the school, the uniforms, piercings, hair ect. One of the P.E teachers who used to teach me in year 9 has been charged with male assaults female and is still allowed to work there. That for me sums up the way that the school obviously has no care for the students. If I could give a lower rating I would. Don’t send your daughters here, I can almost guarantee that she will be unhappy.

I went to this school through years 9-12 I would’ve like to finish the entirety of my school years but there was nothing nearly good enough that this school offered to keep me there. I witnessed so many of my friends being teased by other girls and get no emotional support whatsoever. Atleast half of my year 9 core class had left hghs by year 12 and I couldn’t blame them. In year 11 I had 10 different math teachers in the ONE year, None of them were math teachers, year 11 is the first year of NCEA which means credits (kind of important). All the teachers at this school seem to care about is uniform. P.E teacher is done for abuse and is still able to work at a girls school?? That’s actually sick. There’s so much more I could say about this school. And don’t even get me started on the hostel...

There was no support. Every teacher and counselor ignored the issues of the students. If a student has bullying, depression or any issue there is no action taken by the school. Furthermore it has nothing to truly offer. To truly sum up the atmosphere of this school. I would call it cold and mechanical, it cares for the appearance of the school and not the students within it. If I could give a lower rating I would.
