This hostel allows campers and campervans to rest here while in Hanmer Springs. It cost only 20 NZD per person per night, but you get full access to the hostel: kitchen, lounge, and bathrooms. There are sometimes free baked good for the travelers, and free food is always a plus in my book. The owner of the hostel, Richard, is a very friendly and approachable guy. He knows where to direct you if you're looking for food or activities within the area. I would stay here again if I am in they neighborhood.

I stayed here with a friend of mine back at the end of January, and I am quite impressed with this place! It is super cute, and the location is great! Less than a 10 minute walk to the hot springs and into town, and it is off the main street so it is nice and quiet! Will definitely stay here again next time I visit Hanmer Springs :)

It is for sale, had real estate agent going through one day. Couldn't use communal facilities any more. Got all this information after we booked and paid for. Wouldn't have stayed there. Otherwise it was ok.

We were disappointed to see how backwards this place has gone since staying here 18 months earlier. There was a bottle of ‘lube’ left under the bed, the room was heavily scented with air freshener, wifi was weak & patchy, there was minimal bathroom linen provided, the liquid soap was watered down to the point of not being soap anymore, the communal kitchen facilities were no longer available and the bed was uncomfortable. We were happy to leave first thing in the morning & felt that we paid too much for what we got, especially compared to our experience there last time. We would not recommend this place as an accommodation. We appreciate that times are tough for the hospitality industry right now, we feel that Jack in the Green has made too many cuts and has shifted from being a lovely place to stay to being down right distasteful.

Nice backpackers. Good sized rooms and bathrooms were across the hall. Large well kept kitchen with indoor and outdoor dining. Great to have a washing machine and tumble dryer at hand. You can hire Mountain bikes there. Walking distance from the hot pools and restaurants.
