Excellent location, clean and comfortable facilities, and lovely, helpful staff. We stayed in a double room in the Backpackers Lodge, and thought it was one of the nicest backpackers we've stayed in (and there have been a few...) Spacious and sociable layout with a great, well-appointed kitchen and clean bathrooms with excellent showers. We were also able to park on site, which I think is trickier at busier times (we stayed in late February), but there's other parking nearby. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone looking to visit this beautiful part of Coromandel.

Second time returning here for a couple of nights. Love the cozy, friendly atmosphere of the hostel, rooms are nice, bright and clean and wooden bunks are always the best. They have some super friendly staff working here, we loved hanging out with Jimmy and Fran, they are so kind and funny - definitely recommend! The location is very convenient as you can go to the shops within two minutes, there is a bar next door and the walk to Cathedral Cove takes about an hour or so.
Best hostel/backpackers I have stayed at. We were greeted by friendly staff and guests too, which makes a difference. Rooms were super clean and safe to leave belongings. Multiple showers. The kitchen was spacious and had all the utensils/equipment I needed to use (including a microwave). It is super central (30s walk to the cafes and shops) and close to Hot Water Beach and other Coromandel destinations. Would definitely come again.
Very clean & tidy backpacker's hostel on beautifully maintained premises. There's a bbq right outside the back entrance amongst a a beautiful landscaped garden & which backs on to a path heading towards the Cove. On-site is an ice-cream shop, burger & pizza bar & a bottle store & right next door is a nice pub & a dairy. A nice place to wind down at your own pace, it's so relaxed here that it feels like home away from home.
Really good place run by good people at heart! The log house lodge is very tidy, clean and warm. It's at a convenient location to go to Hahei beach, Cathedral Cove as well as Hot Water Beach which are the must see things in your Coromandel trip. We felt very welcome here! Cheers! Roman

Absolutely loved this place, Jimmy, Frances and Glenn made staying here an absolute treat, they are all extremely friendly, helpful and positive and dedicated to making people feel good about where they are staying, the accommodation is always amazingly clean and tidy and organised. 10/10 best backpackers I have ever stayed in
We loved our stay at Tatahi Lodge and would definitely stay again in future if we’re in the area. We had a super friendly welcome from Fran and Jimmy at reception on arrival who also shared their local knowledge on places to visit/things to do in the area. We were staying in the backpackers part of the accommodation and it’s one of the nicest hostels we’ve stayed at while travelling around New Zealand. The whole place was very clean and well looked after, our 6 bed dorm was spacious with comfy mattresses and solid wood beds that don’t creak and move every time someone moves, bathrooms were clean with nice powerful showers, and we loved the open plan kitchen/dining/living area which was great for socialising in. Free wifi is always a welcome bonus too. Location is perfect, right next door to a pub and 30 seconds from a few cafes and shop, as well as a few minutes walk from Hahei beach, an hours walk from Cathedral Cove and 10 minutes drive from Hot Water Beach.
